About me

me with my grandmother, mother and auntI simply love soup. Ever since I can remember soup has always been such an important dish in our family and family history. As a young girl sitting at my grandmothers dinning table I can still vividly remember her serving her famous and aromatic chicken soup on our friday night dinners.’Soup should be served hot’ and on countless occasions she would send her soup back in restaurants using those specific words. My mother and aunt were great students and introduced all sorts of soups while I was growing up in and around Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Certain religious days, sad and happy,  would be linked to special soups and still are today. During illness, heartaches, joyous get togethers of any kind: a soup can always work its magic.

After I gave birth to our three children I grew even more fond of soup which sometimes does result in a “mom, soup again 😦 ” . But what dish can beat a  nutricious soup? My heart goes out to healthy soups made of all sorts of vegetables in which I can use as little fat as possible. Many soups can be made in a greater amount and can be frozen. Ideal when you’re hosting or would like to have something in your freezer, as well as for a busy day or an unexpected visitors.

I hope I can share my enthusiasm with all you soup lovers out there or even better make you one. Feel free to leave your comment or even better contact me, ilovesoup@me.com, so I can post your soup recipe :-).

Thank you, Claire

Wat een gezellige dames en wat een enig verhaal. Ik heb je al 2 recepten gestuurd: mijn ( ook bij de weight watchers) beroemde pompoensoep en mijn 5 minutes courgettesoep. Er komen meer, what about a chickensoup-contest?

    Hello Claire,

I (we – Me, Michelle and three boys) love soup; we love your website. 🙂

Will be checking back for recipe’s…

Oh, your Minestrone recipe, is very good. Try putting the rind of the parmesan into the soup whilst cooking. It seasons and adds flavour (we think!).
    Thank you – Graham.

      Dear David,

Graag gedaan! I’m now studying Japanese soups and will report shortly with new delicious recipes. But the Korean cuisine is truly one of my favorites and will write about Korean soups as well. While staying in Seoul I think I ate ‘Mandu Soup’ on a daily base: simply gorgeous.

      All the best,
      Claire
